"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10
Christian Challenge is change and we want to change the world through God-honoring relationships. Whether you've been a Christian most of your life, or whether you're interested in the claims of Christianity, we're committed to providing opportunities for you to know Christ and live His challenge. Our goal as Christians is to become Christ-like. His life on earth as the perfect man is our standard. Because being like Christ is our goal we should always be striving to change, never satisfied with maintaining a status quo in our spiritual lives. When we are committed to changing ourselves, we will influence change in others, which will change the world. We believe this change comes through God-honoring relationships. We first must commit to change by constantly growing in our relationship with God. Then we must be committed to honor God by growing in relationships with others. Relationships that draw others to closer to God and help them change to be more Christ like as well. These kinds of God-honoring relationships will change the world one life at a time.
What do we believe? The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. In it God has provided us with instructions for true life. In it we see that God the Father sent his only son, Jesus (who is fully God and fully man) to die on the cross as a sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world. Without this sacrifice we could not have a relationship with God who is completely holy. The Holy Spirit, as the third person of the trinity, indwells those who believe and trust in the person and work of Jesus the Christ for their salvation. It is on the foundation of God and His Word that our entire ministry is based. If you want to know more details, check out our theology page.
How is this put into practice? Well, knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. With this in mind Christian Challenge stands beside the academic training students receive at CU. At Christian Challenge students invest in authentic relationships with one another in order to encourage a spiritual growth which complements their intellectual growth.
We provide opportunities for spiritual growth in a variety of ways. The rallying point of our ministry is our weekly meeting. Each night will be a little different, but it will have the same key elements: music, a message, and fellowship. Join us each week as we take a look at how being Christian affects our daily lives.
Once the semester begins we will have different small group opportunities during the rest of the week. Small groups will be a time devoted to building close friendships as we spend time getting to know each other. This time will be used for Bible study as well as for training and social activities.
Throughout the semester there are an assortment of other activities planned. From hiking to biking to football to volleyball to game nights to movie nights to camping to swing dancing ... Basically, if you can't find anything to do ... it's not our fault!
Interested in missions opportunities? Well, we've got 'em! You'll have to wait for Spring Break, but that'll give you time to save up some money! Spring Break trips have included Habitat for Humanity in New Mexico, inner city Denver, and inner city Houston. Next Spring Break ... who knows, maybe we'll build a house or something! And, if one week isn't long enough for you, how about an entire summer? There are many opportunities to serve God overseas or even in North America if that's what God wants you to do. In the last few years students have gone to China, the Ukraine, and the Philippines. Where does God want you to go?
Now, you may be asking, "what else can I do? There just isn't enough for me to do and I want to be involved more." Well, this is your lucky day because we are always looking for students interested in leadership opportunities. Challenge needs as many committed leaders as we can get so that we can achieve the level of excellence that God desires. There are many areas that leadership is needed: music, small groups, activities, weekly meetings, and more. Please let someone who's already involved in leadership know about your interest, and we'll get you going.
Well, there's so much more we could say about Christian Challenge, but we'd rather tell you in person! Please give any of the staff a call or E-mail us if you have any questions at all!
